Honeyed Speech, Inner Guard
Proverbs 5:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Biblical Context
Seductive speech is pictured as lips dripping honey and a mouth smoother than oil, warning that flattering words can ensnare the unwary and threaten inner integrity.
Neville's Inner Vision
In Neville's view, the 'lips' and the 'honeycomb' are inner speech—discourses that gloss over truth and entice you away from the I AM. The apparent sweetness corresponds to an outer desire, a cocoon of sensation that would persuade you that happiness lies in following appearances rather than in consciously choosing your state. The remedy is not to resist the voice with force but to claim the authority of your own consciousness. You are the I AM, the awareness that cannot be swayed by blended rhetoric; your reality is the state you assume. When you entertain the thought that you are dependent on external sweetness, you feed a belief that creates further appearances; when you rest in the truth that you already are complete, the lure dissolves. So assume, again and again, the state of fullness: I AM, I am whole, I am not moved by honeyed promises. Let the inner watchfulness align you with wisdom and separation from what would tempt you away from your inner kingdom.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and repeat 'I AM' until you feel the presence of the I AM as your real, inner speaker; then revise any tempting thought by declaring 'I do not consent to this; I am the observer of all speech and I choose only that which aligns with I AM.'
