Inner Waters of Union

Proverbs 5:15-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 5 in context

Scripture Focus

15Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
Proverbs 5:15-19

Biblical Context

The passage extols exclusive, joyous union with one's spouse, urging fidelity and inner delight as the norm.

Neville's Inner Vision

All waters are states of consciousness; the cistern is your present inner state. Do not pour your energy into strangers—distractions, fears, or unproductive fantasies—but keep the stream within your own being. The fountains and rivers are the daily movements of imagination, which, when dispersed into the streets, produce appearances of lack or conflict. To be blessed is to make the inner state of fidelity and joyful presence the law of your life. The wife of thy youth stands for your current I AM, the living relation you bear to your own consciousness. The loving hind and pleasant roe are symbols of a tender inner lover who never leaves; the beloved is the awareness you awaken to as real. To be ravished always is to keep the sensation of fullness, to satisfy thee at all times with your constant inner companionship. When you dwell in that identity, outer relations align to reflect that inner state.

Practice This Now

Practice: Sit quietly, breathe, and assume the feeling that I AM is fully present as your inner state; keep the waters within your own cistern. Then visualize the beloved as your consciousness and let the sense of perpetual unity ravish you with love.
