Own Your Inner Fountain

Proverbs 5:15-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 5 in context

Scripture Focus

15Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
Proverbs 5:15-17

Biblical Context

Proverbs 5:15–17 invites you to drink from your own cistern, keeping your inner life and desires within your own consciousness. It warns against letting your vitality flow outward into strangers' streams and streets.

Neville's Inner Vision

Picture yourself as the keeper of a private cistern—the I AM of your consciousness. The waters you drink are the images you permit to form your reality; when you dwell on others’ judgments or worldly temptations, you draw streams into the streets that dilute your inner life. But when you assume the fountain is yours alone, your thoughts and feelings run pure from your own well, nourishing every facet of your experience. The rule 'let them be only thine own' is a call to covenant loyalty within your consciousness; it is not a denial of life, but a discipline that keeps your inner state intact so that your outer world reflects it. Remember: imagination creates reality. Therefore, guard your inner fountain, and revision any unwanted current by repeating, 'I am the creator of my life; my inner waters stay mine, flowing where I will.'

Practice This Now

Practice: Sit quietly and imagine a private cistern within your chest. See yourself drinking from it, feeling the waters nourish your thoughts; quietly reaffirm, 'My inner fountain is mine alone; I choose what flows into my life.'
