Biblical Context
Verse 5:15 urges you to draw nourishment from your own cistern and rely on your own wellspring. It calls for purity, loyalty, and discerning restraint in how you invest your life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the cistern as the state you inhabit in awareness. To drink from your own cistern is to feed upon the quality you have consciously chosen for your life: your own interior covenant with the I AM. The 'running waters' that come from your own well are the dynamic feelings, imaginings, and vibrations you deliberately sustain within. When you are puzzled by others' opinions, remember that you cannot pour vitality from another's source into your being without diminishing your own measure. Your life grows from the imaginative act of feeling as if your desired state is already present; the waters you drink are the energy of your own assumption. Thus, the verse invites purification: guard your inner life, drink only what rises from your own consciousness, and let your discernment distinguish between genuine nourishment and mere imitation. The moment you decide and dwell in the feeling of already having what you seek, your inner well begins to overflow into form.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, identify a desire you hold, and assume the feeling that it is already yours. Visualize drawing its nourishment from your own inner well and repeat an I AM statement to seal the feeling.
