Scripture Focus

12And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
Proverbs 5:12-13

Biblical Context

The speaker laments resisting instruction and despising correction, admitting they ignored wise voices and guidance from teachers.

Neville's Inner Vision

Here in the inner theater, despising instruction is a state of consciousness that has turned away from the feed of guidance. When you feel resentment toward reproof, you are wearing a hardened self that does not listen to its teachers. The remedy is to reverse the assumption: imagine yourself as a pupil within, utterly attentive to every inner note, and behold the teachers as facets of your higher, listening I AM. Reproof becomes compass, not punishment, guiding you back to harmony with your true state of awareness. By aligning with the voice that instructs—your own I AM—you dissolve pride, enter obedience, and awaken discernment through practice. Observe how neglecting correction narrows perception; welcome correction as the soft fire of awareness refining your inner sight, and the world you experience begins to bend toward wiser action.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume the feeling you are already a student of life, welcoming every correction as nourishment. Close your eyes, repeat, I gladly welcome instruction; reproof is my guide, and imagine the inner teacher extending a listening ear to you.
