Proverbs 4:24-26

Biblical Context

The passage urges you to shed froward speech, keep your gaze forward, and steadily align your steps with a chosen path.

Neville's Inner Vision

All life is a state of consciousness awaiting discovery. To put away a froward mouth is to refuse the inner voice that sneers at lack, blames others, or speaks into fear. The mouth and lips are the outward house of an inner drama; discipline here is a renunciation of that drama and a confirmation of your ruling state. When you choose to speak from a higher assumption, you loosen the old spell and invite harmony. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee: this is the practice of attention. Do not permit the mind to roam through yesterday's wounds or tomorrow's doubts; fix awareness on the end you intend. Ponder the path of thy feet: name the next step that aligns with that end, and walk it with steady resolve. Thus your ways are established, for you live from the state that has already accomplished its aim. In this way, interior conviction becomes outward form, and your entire world curves to reflect the new self you have consented to be.

Practice This Now

For five minutes, assume the state that your words are true and your gaze is fixed on the desired end; revise any anxious thought into blessing and feel the next step as already taken.
