Biblical Context
Guard your inner life with diligence, for life flows from your heart. Direct your speech and steps so they align with a single established path.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your heart is the throne of consciousness where life is imagined into form. To keep it with diligence is to win the inner posture from which all your outward circumstances arise. When you permit a froward mouth or perverse lips, you are admitting a doubtful image and feeding it with sound; you are letting a lesser self borrow your reality. The command to let thine eyes look right on and eyelids look straight before thee is a discipline of attention. Where you focus your gaze, there you make a path. Keep your attention on the end you desire and stop oscillating between absence and presence. Ponder the path of thy feet and let all thy ways be established; this is the inner covenant you make with your own I AM: you dwell in a state and act exclusively from its truth. The world will mirror that state as you persist. Remember: God is not outside but within your awareness; you revise by assuming the desired state until it feels true, until your daily life behaves as the living proof of your inner decision.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, place a hand on your chest, and declare I guard my heart; I am the I AM. Then imagine walking a straight, bright path ahead, each step confirming your established state.
