Biblical Context
Proverbs 3:27–30 urges you not to withhold good from those due you and not to delay your generosity. It also forbids evil thoughts toward your neighbor and needless quarrels when there is no harm done.
Neville's Inner Vision
Remember, you are not dealing with others outside your own state of awareness; the neighbor is the reflection of your inner condition. The command not to withhold good from them to whom it is due points to the I AM you already are: when you have the power to give, you are practicing abundance in the only place that matters—the inner world of feeling. If you delay and say, 'tomorrow I will give,' you deny the present certainty of plenty that your imagination can supply now. The neighbor dwells securely by you because you dwell in peace within yourself; devise not evil against him, for thoughts of harm toward another bind you to lack and disrupt the harmony you seek. Strive not with a man without cause if he has not harmed you, for inner conflict dissolves the unity of life. In this light, Proverbs 3:27–30 invites you to stand in the finished state of plenty: act from the assumption that you and all beings share one life, and watch mercy, generosity, and Shalom arise in your world as outward signs of your inward state. Your imagination creates reality; believe it, and live accordingly.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: in the next moment, assume you have already supplied what is due, and feel the relief as if it is done. Then act in alignment with that finished state, giving now in imagination and willingness.
