Proverbs 3:24-26

Biblical Context

Plainly, the passage says you can lie down without fear and sleep soundly. It affirms that the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from stumbling.

Neville's Inner Vision

To Neville, this verse is not about external protection but about inner states. The Lord in Proverbs is the I AM that you are, the constant presence of awareness. When you lie down, you enter a state where fear cannot take hold because you have aligned with the one consciousness that fills all rooms. Fear of sudden danger arises only when you forget that you are the thinker and the keeper of your own life. So you practice by assuming that you are already held by the I AM, that your nights are safeguarded by the very presence you are. Say quietly, I am safe, the I AM is my confidence, my foot is kept from stumbling. See the physical world recede and the inner light rise instead, the bed as the throne of your peace and the night as a continuation of awareness. This revision makes tomorrow a direct outgrowth of this present alignment, and sleep becomes a proof that the divine guardian is awake within you.

Practice This Now

At bedtime, close your eyes and assume the state of the I AM. Feel the bed supporting you as a circle of divine presence surrounds you and repeat I am safe; the I AM is my confidence.
