Inner Reverence and Joy

Proverbs 28:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 28 in context

Scripture Focus

14Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.
Proverbs 28:14

Biblical Context

The verse marks two inner states: continual reverence brings happiness. A hard heart leads to trouble.

Neville's Inner Vision

Two inner states operate here: the one who keeps constant reverence and awareness of the I AM experiences happiness; the one who hardens the heart invites mischief by resisting the living movement of life. When you dwell in reverent attention, your imagination serves you rather than misleads you, and your inner weather stays luminous because life is seen as governed by the I AM. Rigidity, on the other hand, closes the door to new leadings and creates mischief because imagination is starved of fresh movement. The cure is to assume a new state rather than argue with circumstance: picture yourself already in the presence of the I AM and feel the certainty of guidance and safety. Neville's practice is revision through feeling the wish fulfilled. Rest in that reverent state, observe thoughts bow to it, and let the world adjust to your inner disposition. Persist in that feeling and outward form follows, bringing happiness as your natural state.

Practice This Now

Assume the state of reverent awareness now; close your eyes and feel the I AM guiding you. Then revise any hardened thought by affirming, 'I am always guided and safe,' and dwell there for a few minutes.
