Quiet Fire, Peaceful Words

Proverbs 26:21-22 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 26 in context

Scripture Focus

21As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.
22The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
Proverbs 26:21-22

Biblical Context

Contentious speech is like fuel that keeps strife burning; talebearing wounds the inner being.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, you are not fighting people; you are acting out a state of consciousness. The contentions you see are fuel you are feeding with belief that separation is real. Coals do not burn apart from fire; so your mind, when it harbors strife, kindles a similar fire in every encounter. The words of a talebearer are not separate wounds; they travel into the innermost belly because you have accepted a script of injury. Therefore, revise from within: assume that harmony is already true, that your I AM is unstirred by others' opinions, and that every voice in your circle reflects your own calm. Speak thus to your imagination until it feels true—bless the speaker, forgive the fault, and declare peace now. When you refuse to feed the drama and instead dwell in the perception of unity, the outer scene shifts and the quarrel loses its power. You are the author of your experience; by choosing a state of shalom, you bring it forth without struggle.

Practice This Now

Assume the inner state of peace now; when you hear contention, revise in imagination to bless the other and affirm, 'I AM at peace.'
