Proverbs 23:22-25 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage urges honoring one’s parents and seeking truth, wisdom, and instruction, promising joy to the righteous and to the child who becomes wise. It links parental respect to inner righteousness and inward gladness.
Neville's Inner Vision
All hearing occurs within. When Proverbs bids you hear your father, your mother, it is the invitation to listen to the deepest powers within your own consciousness. The 'truth' you are asked to buy is not a distant doctrine but a living conviction you choose with the I AM that you are. To buy is to invest your attention in truth; to sell it not is to refuse the change that comes with it. The 'wisdom, instruction, and understanding' are the three-way discipline of inner sight: discernment in thought, obedience to the inner law, and the patience to allow your states to mature. The Father of the righteous is the inner principle that rejoices when you act in alignment with your own divinity; to beget a wise child is to generate within yourself a new state of consciousness that bears fruit in your world. When you esteem your parents—the old powers within you—you invite their gladness into your present moment; outward joy follows the inward alignment.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and affirm: I am the truth; I am the I AM; I hear and honor the inner father and mother as the reality of my consciousness. See your life reflecting the wisdom you choose; feel the joyful outcome as if already yours.
