Read Proverbs 23 in context

Scripture Focus

10Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
11For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
Proverbs 23:10-11

Biblical Context

Do not remove the old landmark or enter the fields of the fatherless. Their redeemer is mighty and will plead their cause with you.

Neville's Inner Vision

Take the proverb as a map of your inner state. The 'old landmark' is not a stone but a fixed state of consciousness you carry—beliefs about possession, control, and what is rightly yours. To move it is to invite chaos into your mental soil, and you will find yourself trespassing on the ‘fields of the fatherless’: the neglected, dependent, and vulnerable parts of your own being or others you encounter. The 'fatherless' stand for those broken, tender aspects seeking rightful place and protection. The phrase 'their redeemer is mighty' points to the I AM within you, the mighty principle of awareness that cannot be moved or compromised. It will 'plead their cause with thee' by awakening your sense of justice in every choice: you will feel a pull toward fairness, mercy, and guardianship rather than exploitation. When you acknowledge this inner advocate, you align your actions with the law of consciousness: you do not claim against another’s ground; you stand as guardian, offering protection to the vulnerable, while recognizing that you are also that vulnerable part in another form. In such alignment, inner righteousness becomes outer reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Assume the state 'I AM the defender of boundaries and justice' for a moment. Close your eyes, rehearse a boundary you will honor today, and feel the I AM stepping forward to plead the case for the vulnerable within and around you, guiding your choices toward compassion and fairness.
