Biblical Context
Proverbs 21:4 declares that a high look and a proud heart are sins. It suggests that outward labor done from vanity carries the same inner stain.
Neville's Inner Vision
Verse 21:4 reveals pride as a state of consciousness, not merely a personality flaw. A high look and a proud heart arise from a belief in separation from the I AM within, and thus they constitute sin by distorting reality. The “plowing of the wicked” is the outward work that flows from that inner misalignment—labour performed to prove self-importance rather than to express the truth of your being. When you dwell in pride, your world must reflect that inner division, shaping actions and experiences to reinforce separation. The remedy is a conscious revision: acknowledge the I AM as the sole reality and assume a humble, receptive state. By imagining yourself as already one with the divine presence, you dissolve the need to prove yourself and align thoughts, words, and deeds with wisdom rather than vanity. In that alignment, the high look fades, the proud heart softens, and your labor becomes a natural expression of your true I AM reality.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and revise: I AM humble, and I am aware of all as one with me. Feel that truth as your present state and observe how your day begins to reflect humility rather than vanity.
