Biblical Context
Guarding the mouth preserves the soul from trouble; careless speech invites trouble. The verse names the proud scorner who deals in wrath.
Neville's Inner Vision
I tell you: the I AM that you are remains undisturbed when your tongue is trained to be quiet. Speech is not mere sound but a manifestation of your inner state. When you insist on saying what you think, you spread a vibration that contradicts your desired harmony; when you choose silence, you align with the divine awareness that clothes your life in order. The meekness of the mind is not weakness but a posture of readiness, letting wisdom ripple through you rather than erupt from you. The one who guards his words lives from a state of wholeness; he does not feed the outer world with turbulence because he refuses to feed his inner world with pride. The proud scorner, in contrast, reveals a turbulent inner room, a mind convinced of its own rightness, generating wrath as if it were a rightful expression. Observe: you can revise any moment of irritation into a calm acceptance, and let the inner realm do its work unseen, until your outer world reflects that inner quiet.
Practice This Now
Assume the observer within and revise irritation into silent wisdom; say, 'I choose silence in alignment with my I AM,' and feel the calm settle.
