Return to the Inner Covenant

Proverbs 2:17-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 2 in context

Scripture Focus

17Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
Proverbs 2:17-18

Biblical Context

It warns that forsaking the inner guide and the covenant moves life toward death.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Proverbs 2:17–18 the 'guide of her youth' stands for your living awareness, the covenant with God as your I AM. When you believe you are separate from that inner law, your house and your paths bend toward dryness and what the ancients called death. Yet the verse invites a choice: return to covenant awareness in the moment. In Neville’s psychology, the state you inhabit is the substance of what you imagine. Claim that you are always guided by the I AM, that your awareness is the covenant that sustains life. When you feel the guidance as present, you need not fear the descent into ‘dead’ paths, for you walk within a living reality. The moment you revise the memory of being lost and assume the sensation of the covenant fulfilled, your world shifts to reflect a life oriented to wholeness, discernment, and vitality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and, as Neville, assume ‘I am one with the covenant now.’ Feel the inner guidance as real; revise any memory of separation and walk the living path in imagination.
