Soul-Saving Inner Commandment

Proverbs 19:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 19 in context

Scripture Focus

16He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
Proverbs 19:16

Biblical Context

The verse says obedience to the commandments protects the inner life. Despising one's ways leads to the death of the soul.

Neville's Inner Vision

Do you see that the 'commandment' is not a distant rule but the law of your own consciousness? In my practice I learned that keeping this inner commandment preserves the soul—the very awareness in which I live. When I acknowledge and align with this inner commandment, I do not merely perform a duty; I sustain the vitality of my mind and feeling. To despise one's ways is to doubt the inner patterns by which I have been led toward truth; it is to turn away from the steps my mind has already prepared for my good. In such a moment the energy of life drains and a sense of separation appears. The cure is simple: assume you are already keeping the commandment, revise any contrary scene, and feel it real that your life is lived in harmony with this inner law. When the inner law is honored in imagination, your world reflects a living soul rather than a dying habit. Remember: the kingdom is within; obedience to its ordinance preserves life, and disregard brings the illusion of death.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are already keeping the inner commandment. Feel the life surge through you as you align with your inner law.
