Inner Integrity Over Foolish Speech

Proverbs 19:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 19 in context

Scripture Focus

1Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.
Proverbs 19:1

Biblical Context

The verse contrasts integrity of character with deceiving or perverse speech; inner virtue is valued over outward talk.

Neville's Inner Vision

Suppose the 'poor' are not the deficit in coins, but a state of consciousness that believes itself lacking. The 'perverse in his lips' is the habit of speech that contradicts truth, the fool who insists on separation by what he says. In the vision of the I AM, the world is only a reflection of your inner state; to claim integrity is to claim the reality you already are. When you walk in integrity, you align with the living God within, and the appearance of scarcity or deception dissolves into quiet harmony. The verse does not scold you for poverty or praise wealth; it invites you to examine the inner currency by which you measure life. If you imagine yourself consistently true, your words cease to betray your meaning and you begin to hear truth in your own mouth. The moment you assume mastery of your inner speech, you are no longer foolhardy with the tongue, but faithful to the I AM that you are. Then outer conditions follow the corrected inner image.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In the next moment, close your eyes and assume you walk in integrity; revise a spoken utterance to reflect truth and feel it real. Let the image of your word align with the I AM that you are.
