Proverbs 18:20-21

Biblical Context

The verse teaches that our words feed our inner life and that life or death follows what we speak; those who love speech will reap its fruit.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within Proverbs the belly is not a stomach alone but the felt abundance of awareness, fed by the words you utter. Your mouth does not merely report life; it creates the next vibration of your consciousness. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat the fruit thereof—because they love the act of speaking into being the state they desire. When you hear a thought of lack and speak of it, you are sowing rot; when you repeat sentences of sufficiency, you are sowing a harvest. The secret is to dwell in the I AM that your words describe, and to assume the state you wish to inhabit as your present reality. If you want joy, speak joy as if you already possess it; if you crave health, declare health now, and feel the body respond as the echo of your speech aligns with your inner conviction. Your tongue is the instrument through which the inner kingdom becomes outward life; you are the master of your next moment by choosing the language you produce.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and silently repeat an affirmation in the present tense, then imagine the room filling with the sound of your own voice nourishing your being; hold the feeling for a minute.
