The Inner Spirit Sustains Healing

Proverbs 18:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus

14The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
Proverbs 18:14

Biblical Context

Proverbs 18:14 teaches that a man’s spirit sustains him through infirmity, while a wounded spirit cannot bear the load. The inner state is the ground of endurance and healing; shift it and the body follows.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this line, the 'spirit of a man' is your I AM presence—the awareness that you are. It sustains infirmity by not resisting it but by remaining steady in consciousness, while the wounded spirit is a mind convinced of lack, of a life diminished. If you identify with that wound, you contract it into your experience; if you identify with the I AM, you lift the experience into a realm where healing can move. You are not asking the body to heal; you are inviting the I AM to illuminate the whole field of your being, so that even infirmity is seen as an appearance in the light of consciousness. The work is mental: persist in the assumption that you are the I AM, that health is your natural state, and that the wound dissolves as your awareness returns to itself.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and repeat: I AM health. Imagine a beam of light from the I AM filling your chest, dissolving every trace of infirmity, and rest in that felt truth for a few minutes.
