Scripture Focus

26Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
Proverbs 17:26

Biblical Context

The verse cautions against punishing the just or those in authority. It points to an inner order where righteousness is upheld without punishment.

Neville's Inner Vision

Read as a state of consciousness, Proverbs 17:26 asks you to stop striking at the inner just and the inner princes for the sake of fairness. The 'punishing the just' is a disturbance in your mental atmosphere, a denial of the I AM that sees and judges with perfect equity. When you feel compelled to punish your righteous tendencies or undermine your inner authorities, you are not defending justice; you are reacting from fear, counting on separation instead of unity. The inner court you imagine as 'the just' or as a ruler is not an obstacle to be crushed but a part of you to be governed with loving restraint. True equity does not come through force; it arises when you dwell in a constant awareness that the I AM is the ruler of all aspects of your life. As you hold that awareness, you permit the good to rule and the rest to align; punishment falls away as the mind returns to harmony. The invitation is to awaken now to the inner governor who is kind, just, and enduring, and to let that higher state govern without terror or retaliation.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place your hand on your chest, and declare, 'I AM the just governor of my life.' Then imagine an inner court ruled by loving discernment, granting mercy and balance to every part of you instead of punishment.
