Inner Inheritance and Wise Hearts
Proverbs 17:2-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Proverbs 17 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verses speak of rightful leadership within a household, the inner purification of motive, and warning against deceit and mockery of the poor. They also affirm that children crown the old and reflect the father's glory.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of these verses as a map of consciousness. Each line is not a fact about others but a sign of the state you entertain in I AM. A wise servant ruling a son who brings shame is you commanding your inner household with disciplined feeling; when your I AM aligns with integrity, part of the inheritance follows as you no longer betray truth for appearances. The fining pot and furnace symbolize the inner trials by which your heart is refined; the LORD tests the heart as you test your own motives. A wicked doer heeds false lips; a liar listens to a naughty tongue—these are inner dialogues that corrupt perception. To mock the poor reproaches your Maker within; to be glad at calamities is to refuse growth. Children’s children are the crown of old men; the glory of children are their fathers — a promise that the fruit of your inner state becomes outward blessing. Your future is the image you hold now, and you can revise it by assuming the state of the wise steward in your own life.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume the state of the wise steward within you; picture guiding the inner son with calm discipline and feel the I AM governing the scene as your reality.
