Biblical Context
Proverbs 17:16 questions why a fool would pay a price for wisdom when he has no heart for it. True wisdom arises from inner readiness, not external purchase.
Neville's Inner Vision
View this verse as a map of consciousness. A fool bargains for wisdom as if wisdom were a price-tag commodity, failing to understand that wisdom is the governing idea already resident in the I AM that you are. The 'heart' mentioned is not a coin purse but the alignment of your inner motive with truth; when your feeling is one with the immutable awareness, you are learning, even if no external teacher arrives. The moment you consider yourself separate from wisdom you are impoverished; when you accept that you are the I AM, you awaken the faculty of discernment and the subtle art of knowing. There is no gain in chasing wisdom by outward means; the true gain is to realize that you are already the awareness that contains all knowledge. Mind and heart become one, humility replaces pride, and truth flows as a natural expression of your being. The illusion of lack dissolves, and you discover that wisdom is your native state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume the state 'I AM wise now' and feel the heart aligned with truth; revise any belief of lack by quietly declaring you are already wise, listening within.
