Proverbs 16:12-15

Biblical Context

Proverbs 16:12-15 presents inner kingship: righteousness establishes the throne; truth delights the inner ruler. Calm, wise response pacifies wrath, bringing life and favor.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you stands a throne called righteousness. The king you honor is not a distant monarch but the I AM, your enduring awareness. When you align with truth and refuse the lure of wicked thoughts, the throne is established; your states of consciousness become stable, and life flows from that light. The 'righteous lips'—when you speak from the integrity of your inner nature—the inner king loves the utterance, and your atmosphere changes. The 'wrath of a king' denotes harsh judgments that arise from fear; a wise man pacifies it by turning attention inward, by affirming a state of peace that dissolves resistance. In the light of the king's countenance is life; when you let your inner ruler radiate calm and confidence, vitality returns and your favors arrive like gentle rain. This is not history but a description of your inner weather; you can revise any scene by assuming the king is present now, and you are ruled by righteousness in every moment.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and stand on the throne of your inner king. Repeat, with feeling, I am righteous; I am beloved by the king within, and I am guided by that light in every moment.
