Biblical Context
These verses contrast the life-affirming power of wholesome speech with the harm of perversity. They honor obedience to wise correction and connect true inner wealth with living a righteous, aligned life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Consider the tongue as the outward sign of the I AM you are consciously entertaining. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life because when your inner I AM speaks through it, life-giving thoughts, words, and deeds flow from you to refresh your world. Perverseness in speech is a breach in the spirit, a crack in your inner temple where fear, anger, or vanity tempt you to fracture your awakening. The line about accepting reproof and instruction is the invitation to inner discipline; when you welcome correction, you align your imagination with the principle of order, and your inner economy grows rich with true treasure. The contrast between the house of the righteous and the revenues of the wicked teaches that wealth follows alignment, not cleverness, and certainly not resistance to truth. So, you are urged to examine your vocabulary, to choose words that reinforce unity with life, and to persist in that state until your world becomes a faithful expression of it.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit in quiet, feel the inner I AM, and imagine your words forming a tree of life around you. If a contrary thought arises, revise it with, 'I choose speech that sustains life and draws wealth through alignment.'
