Read Proverbs 15 in context

Scripture Focus

31The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
32He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
Proverbs 15:31-32

Biblical Context

The proverb declares that listening to reproof keeps you among the wise; refusing instruction wounds the soul, while hearing it brings understanding.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice that the ear that heareth the reproof of life is not a mere ear but the I AM listening to a correction of your inner state. Reproof is Life itself correcting your inner weather, guiding your imagination toward truth. When you hear it you do not argue with it from the old you; you receive it as a manifestation of your higher self, the wisest part that remains quiet while the restless mind complains. The moment you refuse instruction you turn away from your own soul, cutting yourself off from the very intelligence that sustains life; you cement a false self and wander in confusion. But to hear reproof is to acknowledge a superior order operating within you, and with that acknowledgment, understanding flows. Your state shifts from resistance to receptivity, and you find yourself naturally among the wise those who live by discernment, correction, and ongoing revision of their consciousness. The kingdom you seek is the inner alignment of awareness with its own law; reproof is a gentle invitation to return home.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine you are the wise listener within. Assume the feeling of hearing correction, and revise your state by repeating, I am receptive to reproof and I grow in understanding.
