The verse states that the wise rise to a higher path, thereby leaving the inner hell beneath.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the wise, the way of life is above—not a distant rule, but a reigning state of consciousness you can enter now. The 'hell beneath' isn't a geographical place; it's the texture of fear and limitation you forget you are not. When you dwell in the I AM—that witness which you truly are—the higher road becomes visible, and the lower pulls lose their grip. The verse whispers the practical truth: the path is shaped by your inner position, by imagining from the end. If you imagine yourself confined, you remain confined; if you imagine yourself safe, whole, and free, your outer world rearranges to match that inner climate. The wise do not bargain with appearances; they revise the inner assumption until it feels natural to act from a higher order. So, every scene, every setback, is a mirror of your current state. Change the state, and the scene changes with it. The ascent is a discipline of attention and feeling—keep returning to your I AM, and the mind will carry you along the ascent from hell to life.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, assume I AM is the governing state, revise a limiting thought to the higher outcome, and feel it real for a few breaths.
