Herbs Over Abundance

Scripture Focus

17Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.
Proverbs 15:17

Biblical Context

Proverbs 15:17 says that better food is a simple meal shared with love than a feast tainted by hatred. True nourishment comes from harmony, not abundance.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the verse, the dinner of herbs is not a meal for the body alone but a symbol of the state of consciousness. A dinner of herbs where love is indicates that the inner atmosphere—the I AM—prefers unity, forgiveness, and quiet joy over the glitter of abundance and hostility. When I, as the I AM, assume the feeling of love and consider that all that seems scarce or lacking is only a mistaken image, I find that the 'stalled ox' — the heavy, unyielding sense of separation — becomes fluid, dissolves, and migrates into the flow of peace. The world rearranges itself to reflect this inner disposition. The herbs are what you cultivate as attention: daily acts of kindness, patient listening, and transparent affection. If you have built a worldview around lack, you can reverse it by making the implicit assumption: Love is here now; my meals are full with harmony. The sensation of sufficiency arises as you actually feel love in the room, and the external circumstances gradually align with that.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and assume the feeling of love filling the table; picture a simple herb dinner shared with a loved one and declare, 'Love is my sustenance now,' letting that warmth expand in the room.
