Biblical Context
Proverbs 14:2 contrasts two inner states. One is upright living that invites reverence for the Divine within; the other is a perverse path that despises that inner Presence.
Neville's Inner Vision
Two movements of consciousness stand behind the verse. To walk upright is to align your entire being with the I AM within—the steady awareness that you are the creator of your world. When you stand in that alignment, the fear of the LORD arises not as dread but as holy reverence: awe at the power of your own life to shape reality through imagination. This fear keeps attention awake, quiets anxious thoughts, and prompts decisive, compassionate action. The second path—the perverse one—practices separation and insists there is a God apart from your true self; thus it despises the inner Presence by living as if the I AM were distant. Your task is to return home to the inner sanctuary, to dwell in the sense that you are that I AM and that your life is a manifestation of that awareness. Practice by reaffirming your unity: I am the I AM; my choices reflect that truth, and reality follows my steady, imagining.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume you are upright now, the I AM aware in action. Feel the reverent awe as inner guidance flows, and revise any sense of separation until your world reflects that unity.
