Inner Satisfaction vs Backsliding
Proverbs 14:14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse contrasts a wandering heart that follows its own paths with a good man who is satisfied from within.
Neville's Inner Vision
Let this verse be a map of your inner state. The 'backslider' is the mind turned outward, chasing external outcomes as if they could satisfy the self. Yet every 'way' it feeds on is only the habit of lack, a belief in separation from the I AM. The 'good man' is not a rank to be earned but a fixed state of awareness—self-sufficient because it rests in the I AM, the source of all satisfaction. When you imagine yourself as one with that source, the backsliding urge loses its bite, for you now satisfy yourself by aligning with inner truth rather than chasing changing conditions. The verse invites a reversal: stop seeking to prove your worth through outward circumstances; turn inward and let your inner life feed your outward life. The ways you fear are simply thoughts moving in old patterns; choose anew in the imagination, and the world follows your revised state. Your contentment is not earned; it arises as you inhabit the awareness that you are the I AM.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of inner contentment now and feel it real. When backslider thoughts arise, revise by affirming I am content within, for I am the I AM.
