Biblical Context
Proverbs 12:21 contrasts the just who encounter no evil with the wicked who are full of mischief. The verse speaks to a state of inner alignment that shapes outward events.
Neville's Inner Vision
To view this verse through the eye of imagination, conceive the 'just' not as a person in history, but as a state of consciousness. There is no external evil invading a mind that operates from the I AM; every appearance of danger is but a misinterpretation, a shifting of inner weather. The 'wicked' are described as being filled with mischief because they live in a consciousness unsettled, dependent on separate outcomes, fearing loss, chasing appearances. When you affirm 'I am'—the eternal, unconditioned awareness—you are the just in the text. What happens outside mirrors your inner conviction; if you feel confined by danger, you invite mischief; if you rest in the invincible presence that you really are, the so-called evils lose their sting, and mischief dissolves before you. The law is not punishment but alignment: you reorder your inner state and the outer scene reorders to match. Fear is a misreading; love-as-awareness is the true protection. You are never touchable by evil when you acknowledge that you are the I AM that speaks and sees.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare: 'I AM; I exist as the unassailable awareness.' Then imagine a radiant shield around you and rest in the certainty that your inner state governs your outer experience.
