Speech as Snare and Salvation

Proverbs 12:13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 12 in context

Scripture Focus

13The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
Proverbs 12:13

Biblical Context

The verse shows that careless or evil speech traps the wicked, while truthful, aligned speech allows the just to emerge from trouble. Your inner state, more than outward words, creates your circumstances.

Neville's Inner Vision

The snare is not the lip itself but the consciousness fueling it. The wicked are snared by the transgression of their lips because their thoughts take shape as words, and those words fix a reality within and around them. The 'just' who come out of trouble are those who refuse to identify with fear or blame, and instead awaken to the I AM that stands behind every utterance. In this light, 'salvation' is not a rescue from a distant judge but the maturation of perception: when you align your speech with the truth you intend to live, you untangle the knot of circumstance. Practice noticing when a thought slips into sharp or accusatory language and immediately revise it to a higher tone, as if you are hearing from your inner governor who knows, sees, and forgives. As you persist, the inner state rewrites the script, and events unfold to reflect that state. The lips then become instruments that release you from trouble rather than imprison you in it.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: For the next five minutes, assume the state of the just; feel and say, 'I am the I AM, and my words free me from trouble.' Let that feeling real guide your speech and actions.
