Biblical Context
Proverbs 11:20 contrasts a froward heart that is abominable to the LORD with those upright in their way who delight Him. It teaches that inner disposition, not outward deeds alone, determines divine reception.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the inner theater, the LORD is the I AM within your consciousness. A froward heart is a fixed posture of resistance to the divine order—prideful, self-willed, and closed to life—which estranges you from your true self and from the inner delight that accompanies alignment. When you cling to that posture, life feels divided and life’s flow slows. The remedy is inward: decide that uprightness is your natural state and imagine yourself moving in step with the I AM. As your thoughts and feelings shift to that order, the inner life smiles and you sense harmony rather than struggle. Those who dwell in upright conduct reflect the harmony of the I AM, and thus experience the inner God’s delight. The shift is entirely within you; it is a revision of state, not a revision of circumstance.
Practice This Now
When you notice a stubborn, froward thought, revise it by affirming, 'I am the upright way of the I AM,' and feel the delight of that alignment filling your chest.
