Heeding Knowledge, Embracing Life

Proverbs 1:29-30 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Proverbs 1 in context

Scripture Focus

29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
Proverbs 1:29-30

Biblical Context

This verse warns that those who hate knowledge and reject the fear of the LORD will not accept guidance or correction.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the theater of your mind, 'they' are not others; they are a state of consciousness that hates knowledge and pushes away the fear of the LORD. When you dwell in that state, you turn from the inner counsel that would refine your character and despise the gentle reproof that nudges you toward truth. The LORD in this view is not a distant judge but the I AM, the awakened awareness that longs to guide you to your own highest alignment. The moment you refuse counsel, you guard yourself against humility and keep yourself from the light of discernment; you become hardened to new seeing, and the inner faculty of wisdom remains unopened. But you can reverse the pattern by choosing to welcome knowledge as nourishment for your mind, to honor the fear of the LORD as reverent attention to God within, and to treat reproof as a friend pointing you toward your rightful power and integrity.

Practice This Now

Practice: Assume you are the listener who welcomes counsel; revise your inner state to: 'I am open to wisdom; I now honor the fear of the LORD as reverent attention to my inner life.' Then feel it real by breathing deeply and imagining a wise whisper guiding you, presenting the next right move.
