Biblical Context
Proverbs 1:2-4 invites you to know wisdom and instruction, perceive understanding, and receive wisdom, justice, judgment, equity, and discretion for the simple and the young.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville's ear, these lines are not a ledger of rules but a map of your inner life. 'To know wisdom and instruction' is to awaken to a state of wisdom already present in the I AM—your essential awareness. 'To perceive the words of understanding' means tuning your inner senses to the subtle movements of truth when thoughts arise. 'To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity' invites a balance into your inner courtroom, knowing what is fair and what serves harmony. 'To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion' is a call to embody discernment, not condemn innocence, by recognizing you can guide yourself by the images you hold as real. When you accept these as modes of consciousness, you begin to act from a deeper source, and outward circumstances reflect that inner alignment.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, breathe, and imagine you are already wise—hear the inner counsel and act from that state. In the next decision, revise your self-image by stating, 'I am wise and discerning,' and feel that truth filling you.
