Philemon 1:21

Biblical Context

Paul expresses confidence in Philemon’s obedience and expects him to do more than commanded.

Neville's Inner Vision

Paul’s note to Philemon is a description of an inner state that precedes outward obedience. The true obedience Philemon is being asked to render begins in the I AM—the stable awareness that already is what you seek to be. When you accept you are the kind of person who not only acts on commands but surpasses them, you activate a living conviction that calls forth action before it is spoken. The statement having confidence in thy obedience becomes your inner law: confidence before the event; expectation shaping the scene you inhabit. So fix your attention on the end you desire, imagine the scene already accomplished, and feel the victory as real now. Your real self your I AM knows no delay and responds to your sustained assumption with inspired motion. In practice, assume the outcome as done, revise doubt, and dwell in the feeling of being the person who not only fulfills but expands every command. The outer world will rise to reflect that inner fidelity.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: sit quietly, place a hand on the heart, and declare I am obedient and I exceed. Feel the completed result now and let that feeling persist until it lodges in the body.
