Obadiah 1:5-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Obadiah 1 in context

Scripture Focus

5If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?
6How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!
Obadiah 1:5-6

Biblical Context

The verses describe thieves and robbers as symbolic inner forces, with the hidden things of Esau being exposed; the emphasis is on inner accountability and revelation.

Neville's Inner Vision

From the I AM within, the thieves and grapegatherers are not out there at all; they are thoughts and habits that would steal your peace when night thoughts arise. Obadiah speaks of hidden things being searched out; in Neville's view, your inner registry is opened to reveal every motive, every fear, every habit of the ego. The night-robbers signify doubt, lack, and the impulse to hoard; yet your true state, the I AM, remains untouched by them. When you see that even apparent losses are but the play of appearances, you know that what remains is your consciousness, shining and aware. Esau's hidden things being searched up means the inner agreements, what you secretly believe about you and your world, are no longer hidden from the light of awareness. As you align with the feeling of abundance, you revise the sense of deprivation; you affirm you are always enough, and the external imagery rearranges to reflect your inward state. Providence acts by your realization; justice and truth unfold as you dwell in the present I AM.

Practice This Now

Close the eyes, breathe, and repeat, 'I am the I AM; there is enough for me now.' Feel the fullness flow from within until the sense of lack dissolves.
