From Heights to Humility
Obadiah 1:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Obadiah 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Plain: Pride in the heart deceives you into thinking you sit high; the text promises a reversal that brings the exalted down.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within Obadiah's verse the pride of the heart is not a distant temple of power but a mis-taught state of consciousness. The rock-dweller who asks, 'Who shall bring me down?' is the ego in its sharpest attire - an image of self above circumstance. Neville would say: you are the I AM, not the height you imagine. When you occupy a state that boasts of ascent to the stars, you are rehearsing a condition that shadows the present awareness. The very idea of exaltation is a mental picture that must be dissolved by a clearer realization of being. The moment you refuse the false significance of your self-image and return to the simple fact of I AM, the imagined nest shakes and drops away. The law is not retribution but alignment: your inner movement must mirror the unity of consciousness you seek. Practice now by choosing a new state - grounded, unshakable, and inclusive of all; imagine the ascent as a symbol that you have already descended into the living presence of God within. The eagle falls when the heart awakens to I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and declare: I am the I AM present now. Revise any grand self-image by affirming I am grounded and envision stepping from the nest onto solid earth, knowing the I AM holds me.
