Jerusalem Within: Inner Complicity

Obadiah 1:11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Obadiah 1 in context

Scripture Focus

11In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
Obadiah 1:11

Biblical Context

The verse describes Edom's betrayal: standing apart while invaders seize Jerusalem, and thus becoming like those who aid the ruin.

Neville's Inner Vision

This text is a note to your inner state: when I stand on the far side, allowing strangers to carry away my forces, I am already consenting to collapse. The other side and the foreigners are not outside armies but thoughts that invade my inner Jerusalem—the sanctuary of my awareness. When I cast lots upon it, when I permit fear and judgment to choose my fate, I become as one of them, forgetful of my sovereignty. The cure is simple: withdraw the support you give to that scene and assume a new inner posture: I AM; I stand at the gates and keep them with compassion and discipline. See the invaders dissolve as you refuse to surrender your inner city to limitation. Your present moment can return to life, not as a punishment but as a correction in consciousness. The judgment passes away only when I awaken to the truth that I have always stood in the city of God, and I choose renewal by perception, not by external fortune.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise the scene: I stand with Jerusalem, the gates secure; no enemy can invade my awareness. Then feel it real by repeating in present tense: I AM the I AM; I stand at the gates and command peace.
