Inner Tabernacle Service Within

Numbers 7:1-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Numbers 7 in context

Scripture Focus

1And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them;
2That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered:
3And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle.
4And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
5Take it of them, that they may be to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; and thou shalt give them unto the Levites, to every man according to his service.
6And Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them unto the Levites.
7Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service:
8And four wagons and eight oxen he gave unto the sons of Merari, according unto their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
9But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders.
Numbers 7:1-9

Biblical Context

The passage describes the tabernacle being completed and sanctified, with princes presenting wagons and oxen, which Moses distributes to the Levites for service. It notes that Kohath receives no wagons because their duty is to bear the sanctuary on their shoulders.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within me, Numbers 7:1-9 becomes a map of the mind in action. The tabernacle is my ideal sanctuary, fully set up in consciousness by imagination, anointed with the awareness of I AM and sanctified by the ongoing faith that I am one with God. The princes of Israel are the distinct states of consciousness that govern my days—the thoughts and feelings that claim territory in my inner city. When I offer six wagons and twelve oxen, I am symbolically supplying energy and tools to the inner Levites—the faculties that operate within the sanctuary to maintain my experience of presence. God’s command to Moses to distribute these gifts according to service teaches me to allocate my mental energy to the part of me that serves the divine temple. Gershon and Merari receive their share; Kohath receives none because their service is to bear the sanctuary on their shoulders, a reminder that some burdens must be borne by the self and held upright by discipline. This inner arrangement confirms that the sanctuary exists and I am empowered to worship within.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit quietly and assume the tabernacle within is fully set and sanctified by I AM. Feel yourself declaring, 'I allocate my energies to service,' and sense the inner Levites receiving duties while any remaining burden rests on your own shoulders.
