Inner Nazirite Practice of Separation

Numbers 6:3-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Numbers 6 in context

Scripture Focus

3He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
4All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.
Numbers 6:3-4

Biblical Context

Numbers 6:3-4 commands a Nazirite to abstain from wine, vinegar, grapes, and any vine-derived foods during the period of separation.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider that the letter to the Nazirites speaks of a daily separation, yet the true meaning is inner: you separate your I AM from the intoxications of the senses. The grapes and their products are symbols of attachment—taste, appearance, need for external approval. When you align with the I AM, you discover that the life you crave is not in the bottle or the vine, but in the quiet, unmoved awareness that watches every thought. The law here is a practice of fidelity to your own inner kingdom: by not feeding on the vine, you starve the belief that life comes from without. In this way, the period of separation becomes a living demonstration of holiness: you choose a mental diet of purity—clarity, stillness, integrity—nourishment drawn from consciousness itself. If you feel pulled by craving, imagine the vine as a story in your mind and gently return to the I AM, feeling that you have always been free to drink only from your inner spring.

Practice This Now

During a chosen period, close your eyes and declare, 'I am separated in consciousness.' See the vine as a symbol and feed only on I AM awareness, letting sensory temptations pass without purchase.
