Inner Camp Purity

Numbers 5:3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Numbers 5 in context

Scripture Focus

3Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell.
Numbers 5:3

Biblical Context

The verse commands removing those who defile the camp so God can dwell in the midst. Spiritually, this becomes cleaning the mind of defiling thoughts to keep the inner sanctuary sacred.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within my awakening eye, the camp stands for the total state of consciousness in which the I AM dwells. When the verse says to put out male and female, it is not a decree about bodies but about beliefs and thoughts that would defile the holy place of awareness. The inner camp must be kept undefiled, not by punishment but by falling in love with the reality that God is present in you now. Defilement arises as fear, doubt, or memory that asserts separation from the I AM. Therefore, you cast them out by turning away attention from the restless images and returning to the one thing in view: I AM. The act of banishing is a revision, a conscious decision that these thoughts do not define you. The camp becomes a sanctuary of stillness where the divine breath moves; the exile of troubling states ends when you accept your oneness with God and imagine the I AM dwelling at the center of your consciousness. Thus your inner camp remains pure and your presence intimate.

Practice This Now

Assume now that the I AM is dwelling within your camp; when a defiling thought arises, revise by saying Not this in me, and feel the space cleared, with the I AM quietly present.
