Biblical Context
This verse commands Israel to enter the land of Canaan and treat it as their inheritance. It presents the land as a promised possession awaiting arrival.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here, the command is not a geographical directive alone, but a summons to the inner man. You are told to command your own consciousness, for the land of Canaan is the state you are to possess within. When you come into the land—into the inner state where your desires already are—you are entering your inheritance. The word 'land' is not soil but your pattern of life, your habits of feeling, your sense of being. The 'coasts thereof' describe the whole domain of your life—body, relationships, resources—once you hold the vision, the entire terrain conforms to it. The act of commanding is the act of choosing, of clarifying what you accept as true and what you will not entertain. Therefore, this verse urges you to act from the end: dwell in the feeling that the land is yours, that you have already inherited it, and let your imagination populate the details. Your imagination is the map; your I AM is the land; your attention is the key. If you persist, the outer conditions will realign to reflect the inner state.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume you have already entered your inner land. Then declare from that state: 'I am now in the land of abundance and peace; this inheritance is mine.'
