Biblical Context
Elders from Moab and Midian bring rewards of divination to Balaam and seek his word from Balak. Balaam invites them to lodge for the night and promises to return with the LORD's word.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the scene as an inner negotiation. The elders bearing rewards of divination are not strangers from a distant land; they are the temptations of outward want and the belief that truth can be bought or conditioned by wealth. Balaam’s reply, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me, points to a habit of outsourcing inner guidance to a voice that feels distant or compromised. In Neville's terms, the true prophet is the I AM within, and the only credible word comes from your own awakening to that presence. The moment you accept a fee for truth, you’ve allowed motive to color listening. The cure is a deliberate revision: assume the inner word is spoken now, right here, by the I AM; hear it as a present fact. Stay with the inner quiet until clarity arises, not until some external payment is promised. Then wealth and provision flow not as a prize for cunning, but as the natural fruit of a mind aligned with its Source. You are the speaker of your fortune when you align imagination with reality.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, assume the inner word is spoken now by the I AM within. Feel that guidance as present reality and let your next step arise from it.
