Biblical Context
Israel's cry moves God to deliver the Canaanites and their cities. The name Hormah marks a decisive boundary of victory and devotion.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this verse you are the Israel and the I AM that hearkens to your own inner cry. The LORD listening to the voice of Israel is the moment your awareness attends to itself and answers with liberation. The Canaanites and their cities symbolize old conditions, fears, and habits that once ruled your mind; when your inner voice is heard, these conditions are delivered up and removed. The naming of the place Hormah is the inner verdict—the point at which you declare, in effect, ‘destruction to the old self,’ and consecrate the landscape of your consciousness to a new order. This is not history but a law in your experience: obedience to the inner voice yields deliverance, and covenant loyalty to your I AM ensures the victory remains. When you align with the I AM and feel the truth of your freedom, the mind renames its territory and steps into a transformed existence. You are the voice that conquers and the land that is conquered only by your belief.
Practice This Now
Assume the state 'I AM free now' and dwell in that feeling for a minute, then declare, 'Hormah—the old self is destroyed; a new land within is established.'
