Dwelling In Your Inner Amorites

Numbers 21:25-31 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Numbers 21 in context

Scripture Focus

25And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.
26For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
27Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:
28For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.
29Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.
30We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
Numbers 21:25-31

Biblical Context

Israel takes the cities of the Amorites and dwells there, especially in Heshbon and its villages.

Neville's Inner Vision

All this geography is interior to my being: the Israelites are my I AM awareness; the Amorites are stubborn habits and fears; Sihon is a ruling thought that once held Moab in bondage; Arnon is a river of life through which I move. When I 'take' these cities, I reclaim inner territories by attention and feeling. Dwelling in Heshbon and its villages signals abiding in a clear perception of my power and the possibility of transformation through imagination. The fire that issues from Heshbon is the purifying energy dissolving old attachments—the lords of Arnon—transmuting fear into action. To speak the proverb invites my mind to build and prepare new interior cities. Moab's doom and captivity symbolize the dissolution of limiting stories as I occupy the land with a new consciousness. I have shot at the doubt; Heshbon has perished in my awareness, and I dwell in the land of the Amorites. The Kingdom of God is not distant; it is the inner country I now possess and inhabit.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you have entered and dwell in your inner cities. Tell yourself, 'I am the possessor of this land within,' and feel that reality now.
