Cleansed by Inner Covenant

Numbers 19:20 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Numbers 19 in context

Scripture Focus

20But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.
Numbers 19:20

Biblical Context

The verse says that a person who remains unclean and does not purify himself is cut off from the congregation because he has defiled the sanctuary. Purification and the water of separation are the inner means to maintain holiness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Numbers 19:20 places a clear statement on a soul that refuses purification: it is cut off from the congregation because the sanctuary—the inner center of awareness—has not been sprinkled with the water of separation. In the Neville psychology, the 'uncleanness' is a state of consciousness, a belief in separation from God. The water of separation is not an external rite but the moment you awaken to the I AM and pour attention upon it. When you assume you are already purified, you actively cleanse your mind; you re-enter the sanctuary by feeling it real: you are one with the I AM, the temple, and the whole divine assembly. The verse teaches that cause and effect operate within your consciousness; clinging to impurity yields a sense of separation, while a confident assumption of right-state reunites you with your true center. The so-called punishment is the natural law of consciousness correcting you back to unity with life. Your task is to revise mentally until you feel the water falling upon you, knowing you are clean and sacred once more.

Practice This Now

Tonight, sit in stillness and revise: 'I am purified by the I AM; the water of separation sprinkles upon me now; I am one with the sanctuary within.'
