All Scripture, in the Neville way, is a description of states of consciousness. When the Lord says, I have pardoned according to thy word, He is declaring a law that your inner word, the I AM you are, can override the memory of error. Forgiveness does not address a distant event; it is a shift of your mental atmosphere. Your word is a vibrational decree that you believe in the present moment. If you cling to guilt or to the old scene, you perpetuate it; if you entertain the assurance 'I am forgiven' and 'this state is mine now,' you dissolve the past and awaken to a fresh stream of mercy. The pardon you seek already exists in awareness; you access it by assuming its reality until it feels true. Thus the outer world reflects your inner alignment: mercy is your natural state when your inner voice declares it. The clause 'according to thy word' is not a command to God but a reminder of the power of inner declaration, a law of imagination that makes present what you quietly accept as true.
