Read Numbers 11 in context

Scripture Focus

28And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
Numbers 11:28-29

Biblical Context

Joshua resists allowing others to be expressed; Moses declares a wish that all of God's people be prophets and that His Spirit rests on them all.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this scene, Joshua embodies a narrowing state of consciousness that seeks to restrict expression out of fear or control. Moses embodies the I AM, the inclusive, expansive awareness that would rather see every aspect of your being activated by divine influence. The desire that all the LORD's people be prophets is a call to awaken every inner faculty—thoughts, feelings, memories, desires—to receive inspiration. The Spirit poured upon them is the felt presence of God within, a universal infusion that dissolves the sense of separation between self and spirit. When you realize that no part of you is excluded from divine action, you stop seeking permission from others and recognize that your entire inner world is eligible for immediacy, guidance, and awe. The key is to trust this expansion and revise any belief that only a few can be illuminated; your task is to dwell in the consciousness that all your inner people are prophets now.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume that every aspect of your being—body, emotions, thoughts, memories—becomes a prophet of God; feel the Spirit resting on all of them, right now.
