Read Numbers 10 in context

Scripture Focus

36And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel.
Numbers 10:36

Biblical Context

The verse speaks of a pause in movement and a call to return the Lord, inviting a turning of awareness to the many aspects of the self.

Neville's Inner Vision

To say 'Return, O LORD' is to awaken to the truth that the LORD is our own I AM, the awareness that never leaves the field of consciousness. When the march rests, the inner movement pauses and the attention chooses to dwell in the one Presence. 'Israel' here is not a nation but the many thousands of states of consciousness—the thoughts, desires, memories, and potentials that fill your inner camp. The command to return invites you to shift from outward activity or fear toward the inner sanctuary where God is present. The resting is not withdrawal but a settling into the awareness that all you see in the world is visible through, and under, the I AM. As you reinterpret this verse, you see that you are the agent who returns to God; you are the multitude returning to the one Presence. Your practice is to assume that you are already in possession of this LORD, feel the reality of the I AM, and let the multitude quiet into unity. What you seek is not external refuge but the realization that you are the returning Presence.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Assume you are already in the LORD's presence. Feel the I AM as your essence and rest there for a few breaths.
